Our culture is largely made up of immigrants. Somehow we adapt, there are losses and there are gains. Our culture adapts and we adapt – although both do not happen simultaneously. Therein lies the rub, there is often a tension between these two.
America is seen in many other countries as a place in which the streets are lined with gold. One culture calls San Francisco “Gold Mountain.” However, immigrants come here and face often unforeseen difficulties which impact them and their families in many ways.
